St Pius X empowers student voice by providing a school enviroment where everyone belongs with opportunities for all to be heard.
Students become self motivated learners who as leaders can make purposeful decisions, take responsibility for their choices and confidently take action to reach set goals. St Pius X encourages fun and exciting ways to learn through curiosity, creativity and a sense of adventure integrating STEAM appraoches. Students have the ability to actively learn and access specific information for multiple sources and opinions.
They have the capabilties to demonstrate independent thoughts and practice and verbalise their findings and conclusions. Explicit teaching strategies develop students higher order thinking skills and provide the inspiring and challenging environment needed for innovative and creative inquiry learning.

Kids Thrive in partnership with St Pius X primary school in West Heidelberg will be presenting a fabulous evening of arts activism from children who want to make a difference in their community.
This program is the first of its kind in Melbourne and we hope it will be the start of many bright things to come.
The grade 3-6 students of St Pius X are working on local issues with local partnerships and have created art and performances for their community and for you.

Last month St Pius X School, Heidelberg West, celebrated their 2017 art exhibition. The exhibition titled ‘Watch, Grow and Shine: The Nature of Seasons’ included paintings, drawings, collages, textile works, sculptures and four large, impressive banners hanging from the ceiling representing the collaborative work of all students on their definition of the elements of each season…
Our children are incredible! What a fabulous celebration at the Banyule Community Health Centre. All who attended would agree the launch was magical and full of fun and laughter. The magical force of happiness filled the entire foyer with everyone captivated by the children joyous and talented performance. The children were confident, and certainly relished in the attention they received from the crowd for their fantastic achievements over the last 6 years.
